Privacy notice

Written in plain English, aligned with the Australian Privacy Principles. Here's what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.

Last updated: 19 April 2026

Who we are

RQST Studio is a brand of RQST, an Australian business. This notice explains how we handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using this website, subscribing to our newsletter, or getting in touch, you acknowledge the practices described below. If you do not agree with them, please don't use the site or share your details with us.

What personal information we collect

You don't have to give us any personal information to browse this website. We only collect personal information that you choose to share — typically your name, email address, company name, job title, phone number (if you provide one), and the content of any message you send us. If you subscribe to The Site Briefing, we collect your email address and any other fields you fill in at sign-up. We also collect standard internet log information automatically when you visit the site: your IP address, browser type, device type, approximate location (derived from your IP), pages viewed, referring website, and timestamps. This information is collected through analytics tools and cookies described below. We do not seek to collect sensitive information (as defined by the Privacy Act — including health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or criminal record). If you send us sensitive information unsolicited, we will either delete it or, where relevant to your enquiry, handle it in accordance with APP 3.

Cookies, analytics, and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies (small text files and tracking pixels stored in your browser) to understand how visitors use the site and to reach relevant audiences with our marketing. Specifically, we use: • Web analytics (such as Google Analytics or similar) to measure traffic, engagement, and content performance in aggregate. These tools collect usage data but we do not use them to identify you personally. • Advertising and retargeting pixels (such as the Meta Pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag) that allow us to show relevant ads to people who have visited the site, and to measure how those ads perform. These services set their own cookies and operate under their own privacy policies. • Embedded content (such as YouTube videos, social media embeds, or third-party articles). When a page loads embedded content, those third parties can set cookies and collect usage data as if you had visited their site directly. Their privacy policies apply to that activity, not ours. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of most advertising cookies through industry tools such as Your Online Choices (youronlinechoices.com.au). Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

How we use your information

We use the personal information you provide to: • Respond to your enquiry and follow up on proposals, audits, and engagements. • Send The Site Briefing newsletter and related marketing communications about our services, insights, and events. • Run business development activities, including LinkedIn outreach and other direct, relationship-based follow-up with people who have engaged with us. • Build custom audiences and retargeting lists on platforms like Meta and LinkedIn so we can reach people similar to our existing audience. These platforms match hashed email addresses or use website visit data; the platforms themselves may retain and use this information under their own terms. • Improve the website, our content, and our services — including by analysing aggregated, de-identified usage data. Direct marketing (APP 7): Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time and we'll stop. You can also ask us to stop contacting you by emailing privacy@rqst.info.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, and only to the extent necessary for them to do that work. These providers include: • Supabase (database and authentication) and Vercel (website hosting) — for storing and serving the website and any information you submit. • Email delivery providers — to send newsletters and transactional email. • Analytics and advertising platforms (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, and similar) — to measure site performance and run marketing campaigns. These platforms act as separate controllers of the data they collect and are bound by their own privacy terms. • Professional advisers (legal, accounting) — where required. We may also disclose your personal information where we're required to by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a sale or restructure of our business. In that last case, we'd take reasonable steps to ensure any recipient is bound by protections equivalent to this notice.

Overseas disclosure

Several of our service providers — including Vercel, Supabase, Google, Meta, and LinkedIn — store or process data on servers located outside Australia, typically in the United States and the European Union. By sharing your information with us, you acknowledge that it may be transferred to and processed in these jurisdictions. Under APP 8, we take reasonable steps to ensure these overseas recipients handle your personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. This typically means contracting with providers who have recognised data-processing frameworks and published privacy terms. However, we cannot guarantee that any overseas recipient will comply with the APPs in every respect, and you may not be able to seek redress in Australia for acts or practices those recipients undertake overseas.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. This includes using reputable service providers with industry-standard security practices, restricting access to personal information to people who need it to do their jobs, and using secure connections (HTTPS) across the site. The open nature of the internet means we can't guarantee that data transmitted to us over networks will be completely secure. If you're concerned about sending sensitive information by email or form, please get in touch and we'll discuss a secure alternative.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. • Newsletter subscribers: we keep your email address while you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we remove your address from the active list, though a suppression record may be retained so we don't accidentally re-add you. • Prospective clients and enquiries: up to 24 months from the last meaningful interaction, then deleted. • Clients: for the duration of the engagement and for a further period as required by our tax, legal, and contractual obligations (typically seven years). • Aggregated, de-identified analytics data: retained indefinitely, as it cannot be used to identify you.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you. • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. • Opt out of direct marketing at any time. • Make a complaint if you think we've mishandled your information. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@rqst.info. We'll respond within a reasonable time — usually within 30 days. There's no fee to access your information, though we may charge a reasonable cost if a request requires significant work.

Complaints

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a privacy concern, please email privacy@rqst.info first so we have a chance to sort it out directly. If you're still not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or the law. When we make a material change, we'll update the revision date below. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the updated notice.
